Having an understanding of ACLS algorithms is essential to passing your Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification exam. While there are also many other topic areas you will need to be familiar with to prepare for your ACLS exam such as medications and ECGs, having your algorithms memorized will help you answer a significant portion of questions on the exam.

The ACLS Algorithms you should be familiar with are:

– Adult BLS Algorithm

– Adult Cardiac Arrest Algorithm

– Immediate Post-Cardiac Arrest Care Algorithm

– Acute Coronary Syndromes Algorithm

– Adult Bradycardia Algorithm

– Adult Tachycardia Algorithm

– Opioid-Associated Life-Threatening Emergency Algorithm

– Adult Suspected Stroke Algorithm

The process of learning how to properly use and memorize your ACLS algorithms can be stressful. There is no need to panic, however. There are a number of tricks and tips you can use to help commit them to memory – chiefly, mnemonic devices, which abound on Google and can be implemented in whatever fashion works best for you.

While these don’t always work for everyone, as we all learn differently, many people find them invaluable. Once you identify how you learn best, you can make use of studying strategies that best complement your style of learning.

If you learn best by seeing, using note cards to quiz yourself can be very effective. If you are an auditory learner, repeating things out loud nay be your best avenue to learning. Kinesthetic learners will usually absorb information best after writing it down several times. The key is to find what works for you and stick with it.
